Why I Always Eat After 7PM

Every year, instead of making your traditional New Year’s resolution, I pick One Little Word to be the heartbeat of our family’s year. When I chose the word “simplify” at the beginning of 2020, I didn’t know we would be simplifying our schedules around stay-at-home orders of COVID-19. I didn’t know we would be saying “yes” to less due to social distancing. Nor did I know we would have to adjust our rhythms and routines to accommodate having toddlers in our home without much outside help (for date nights, family meetings, etc.) around the clock.

For us, a healthy diet doesn’t mean we want to lose weight necessarily. For us, weight loss is an extra benefit, but as a family, we like to focus on diets that help us sleep better, balance our hormones, and help us stay energic with our toddlers just as much as anything else. We’ve been traditionally taught to avoid carbs, have an early dinner, and never eat before bed. But the fact is, the latest scientific research shows us this earlier model is not the most ideal. I had heard a ton about intermittent fasting and the term “ketosis” before, but I have been really learning a ton from this book! Bestselling author, Joel Marion, is a fitness expert and nutritionist debunking the myths underlying traditional dieting and offers a simple, highly effective weight loss program.
