One Month of Always Eat After 7 PM

One month of reading and eating through Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion, done! I wanted to share an update from not only the book itself, but from us as a family and how we are doing.

A few weeks back I talked through how I was intrigued by Always Eat After 7 PM and how it fit our “why” to simplify in 2020, as well as the “why” from the author. I also shared last week about our favorite recipe, the Chili-Loaded Baked Potato. But after all of these weeks, has it truly made a difference in our lives?

The easy answer (which is my preferred answer) is absolutely yes! Based on surprising science, Always Eat After 7 PM debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy-to-follow diet that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense food cravings: Eating the majority of your calories at night.

This has been so easy for us simply because we have been so busy during the day! It has allowed me to have less stress in the morning because I am not as concerned about front loading my meals each day. We also spend time on the weekends planning out our meals with the easy-to-make recipes (link to post #3) which makes our evenings so much more enjoyable. The kids enjoy the food, and we have been sleeping better and waking up with more energy. This in turn has really amplified our mode as well!

Sustaining Our New Habits

Keeping up our new habits and ways of thinking was a concern for mine prior to reading this book; however, knowing that we can sustain our new rhythm with three simple things, I really have the confidence that I needed to ensure that our health is going to continue to be at the forefront of our family’s lives through the summer and beyond.

1. Plan Your Weekly Meals

The book shows you how to structure your meals and your nighttime snack. The book provides 14 days of sample menus for each phase, or a template to that equally useful as a starting place to develop your own meal plans.

2. Shop for Approved Foods

Meal planning is the easiest for me to help me stay on track. Knowing what I am cooking for the upcoming week keeps our meals healthy, limits the amount of time (and money) I spend at the grocery stores, and keeps us accountable as a family to our plan.

“Buying your groceries ahead of time will let you prep and cook in advance for additional convenience. Making healthy choices at the grocery store keeps you on track through every phase of the plan.”

3. Prep for Convenience

Knowing what is upcoming in the week also helps with meal planning. Allowing myself to plan and prep for a couple of hours on the weekend ensures that I have the time for each meal to be made relatively quickly, no matter how busy the family gets or how needy the toddlers are in the evening.

“Another huge benefit of meal prepping is portion control. We’re often seduced to eat a little more, go for seconds, or stop at a restaurant that serves you an entire cow on a plate. But when you prep meals at home in advance, you can give yourself just the right amount of food—exactly as prescribed on the Always Eat after 7 pm plan.”

By knowing that these changes that we have made are super easy to stick to, I cannot recommend Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion enough. It has been an easy read, but full of wonderful information for the whole family!
