How I Fuel My Day

SUMMER!!!

Raise your hand if you are ready for Summer! You can’t see, but I am raising both hands super high and doing a happy dance. This will be our first summer with two kiddos under two years old, so of course, we have lots and lots of plans to keep us busy. In between being super active in our church and community, and both working full time jobs, we have taken on a few house projects, fitness goals, and summer activities to feel up our "free time".

Of course, I'm joking. Kind of. Our plates are overflowing with commitments even though we are striving so hard for margin. Regardless, we know that no matter how busy we get this summer, we cannot let our healthy eating habits slip. That's when Fuel for Fire came in.

I have been jealous lately of Ollie's grab and go snacks. They are full of nutrition and healthy foods but packaged specifically for toddlers. Fuel for Fire reminds me of those but in the best way possible. These little pouches are jammed packed of protein and fruit without all of the nasty junk. They are designed in similar little twist top pouches like Ollie's yogurt and like his snacks, they are not required to be refrigerated prior to eating them. They are convenient, easy to grab on the way out the door, and full of nutrients to fuel my day!

So what is Fuel for Fire?

Fuel For Fire is a company that was founded in 2012 by professional chef and six-time Ironman Triathlete, Rob Gilfeather. This guy wanted to create a convenient snack made from real food that provided natural energy to fuel and recover from his workouts. Their mission is to change the way people eat on-the-go by making smart, impactful changes to their daily nutrition that support lifelong, healthy habits. Fuel For Fire was made for anyone who desires a delicious, filling snack made from real fruit and whey protein isolate.

Fuel For Fire Fruit + Protein Smoothie Flavors

Strawberry Banana

This is my favorite flavor! It's packed with 12g of protein and gluten free with no sugar added and contains nothing artificial. It honestly tastes like a really thick smoothie which is probably due to the protein. The taste truly is fuel of both strawberry and banana. It also has 9 essential amino acids and a great source of potassium, fiber and Vitamin C!

Banana Cocoa

115 calories per pack, 10 grams of whey protein isolate, 9 essential amino acids, and chocolate flavor?? Yes please!! This blend is of banana, apple and cocoa powder and it goes together really well; however, I didn’t taste of the apple flavor. It also wins the award of smelling the best! I think I would like to keep this one as a treat, because it isn't something I would grab everyday when I think of healthy snack (although it is), but I would keep it in my refrigerator as a great chocolate fix.

Tropical

With pineapple, banana, and mango, this one did not disappoint either. As it is getting hotter as we move into a midwest spring (aka summer), I am loving all things tropical right now. Anything that reminds me of the beach or being poolside is right up my alley. It’s gluten free, soy free, no sugar added and contains nothing artificial. This combination is packing 10g of protein!

Sweet Potato Apple

With a blend of apple, sweet potato, pear and cinnamon, this blend is again gluten free, soy free, no sugar added and contains nothing artificial. It's packed with 10g of protein and only 93 calories. This is the one that reminded me the most of what I imagined Ollie's yogurt food pouches to taste like. Not bad, just different. At first taste, I got more of the sweet potato flavor then anything else. I could still taste the fruit but it was a bit more watered down than the other (assuming with the fruit juices) and I could not necessarily shake the idea of toddler food. Something about the combination just didn’t do it for me.

Coffee

This was the flavor that I was most excited and nervous to try. As a mom of a newborn, we know that I need some more caffeine in my day; however, I don't necessarily like coffee flavoring all that much. But, really, it was pretty good! It's still the gluten free, soy free, no sugar combo made with a combination of banana and coffee extract. The coffee is strong and the banana is light in my opinion; however, it is definitely one to have on hand when you need that extra kickstart to your day along with your nutrients.

So why Fuel for Fire?

It’s a healthy, yet convenient option when you are on the go! Fuel for Fire is made with real ingredients so I know that I am not just grabbing junk while trying to keep up with these two little ones. I also love that it is giving me 10+ grams of why protein isolate in each pack with 130 calories or less. It's a great way to keep my energy level up while maintaining a healthy option for breastfeeding and losing my post-baby weight.

These little snacks are keeping me full and helping me shift my eating habits from poor to great this summer. I have been starting my day with high energy for the boost I need to tackle maternity leave these past few weeks and it has also a good option for pre-workouts, post workouts, during high activity for more endurance, and a on-the-go healthy snack.

I love that they are affordable pricing, made from real ingredients, easy to open and consume, and there are tons of flavors to choose from! If you want to try them out, this is definitely the opportunity!
