Shop Small :: Arter Designs

Thank you, Arter Designs, for sponsoring this post, part of the 2017 Shop Small Spring series. I was selected for this opportunity by Arter Designs; the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Shop Small

Partnering with small shops makes my heart warm. It truly lifts my spirits inside knowing that I have helped a mom stay home with her kids, or a grandparent supplement their retirement, or a college student paying for school. My little purchases make big impacts and I love it. The feelings do not change when I found Arter Designs.

Jenn, owner of Arter Designs, is a wife to a US air force veteran, mother of three wonderful boys, painter, small business owner, vintage enthusiast and DIY junker. She spends her Friday nights after putting her kiddos to bed turning up the music and painting away. And she makes amazing work! I feel in love at first sight with her wooden sign that featured a quote from Where the Wild Things Are.

Ollie is precious and such a lovable baby, but boy is he going to be a wild toddler. I can just feel it already. He is 100% boy and does not stop. When I saw her painting, I just knew it had to be an addition to his playroom and I cannot wait to read the book over and over to him underneath her sign. It is the perfect gift to a new momma of a boy and you should definitely check out her shop over on Etsy. Use the code "SpringShopSmall" will get you 15% off any purchase! The coupon code is good through June 1st!!

Here is a little bit more about Jenn, the owner of Arter Designs:

How did you get your shop started?
I started my shop just to see what Etsy was like and to get my products out there. I really got into it when I was planning my youngest son's first birthday party. We decided on Where the Wild Things are theme and I just loved the wood signs so much I decided to list them.

What is the hardest part of owning a shop?
The hardest part of owning a shop is trying to balance work time with family time. Let's just say I do most of my painting late at night after the boys go to bed.

What is one thing unique about you?
I'm considered an "old soul" to many. I love old objects and dream of living in a simpler time and Era- where family is the number one priority and work was just something to live off of.

What is the best part of owning a shop?
Setting my own hours is by far the best part of owning my own shop. It allows me to stay at home and raise my children without having to use daycare or babysitters.

How did you get your shop name?
It is really just a simple name that my husband and I came up with.

What is one way that you keep organized?
I love to write notes on our family calendar and in my little note book but I also use my phone a lot to keep on track.

How do you balance family life and work life?
The best way I have found to balance both work and family is by doing late night painting. It's really my way to unwind as well. I love to turn on my music and just paint away. I tend to lose myself (and time) when I paint.

Also, great news! We are now hosting a giveaway for one of these signs for your house over on Instagram!! Hop on over to the my account to learn more about how you can enter through April 6th!

xoxo, Heather
