Shop Small :: Pine Lettering Co

Thank you, Pine Lettering Co, for sponsoring this post, part of the 2017 Shop Small Spring series. I was selected for this opportunity by Pine Lettering Co; the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Shop Small

I absolutely love to read. I have since I was little. Reading has been my escape. Reading has been my inspiration, my creativity, my calm. In my younger years, I enjoyed reading fiction. Diving myself into another world through the pages of a book was my go-to. As I have gotten older, I have found myself to be more of a self-improvement junkie. Business books. Gospel-centered books. Books on how to find happiness. Books on how to discover organization. Books on how to communication better. The works. My favorite is typically a collection of short essays around a common theme written by a female writer.

And that is why I love Shauna Neiquist. The woman writes directly to my heart and soul. She writes words so eloquently that makes me devour a book like I did when I was little and I always am anticipating her next release.

So when I stumbled upon Pine Lettering Co.'s print of a quote out of one of her books, I jumped on it. It is perfect for a little one's play room! Her quote is all about wildness, settledness, and becoming. Perfect for a little boy's growing world. Shop owner, Brently, does great hand written and designed art for any perfect spot in your home. Check out her Etsy shop as you do a bit of spring decorating this week!

Here is a little bit more about Brently, the owner of Pine Lettering Co:

How did you get your shop started?
I have always been a doodler when it comes to words. Spending time creating the words I write has always helped them sink in. After awhile, people started asking me to create for them and eventually some close friends and family convinced me to open an Etsy shop.

What is the hardest part of owning a shop?
Putting your work out there is scary! It makes you feel vulnerable. Every time I mail a product there is a part of me that gets nervous that the person it was created for won't love it.

What is one thing unique about you?
I have taught in a Title I school for 4 years but started my teaching career in a class of over 50 students in Yaounde, Cameroon.

What is the best part of owning a shop?
I love interacting with people! I also love doing custom orders. It is SO fun to take someone's vision and make it come to life.

How did you get your shop name?
I love North Carolina-which is often known as the land of the pines. My husband and I use pine wood for projects as well!

What is one way that you keep organized?
Planners!! I love love love handwritten, offline planners.

How do you balance family life and work life?
Right now I'm balancing a full time teaching job and starting up a side Etsy business. Because this season of life is so busy, I try to be as intentional and present as possible wherever I am- home and work.

xoxo, Heather
