Shop Small: Jasemet

Thank you, Jasemet, for sponsoring this post, part of the 2016 Shop Small Christmas series. I was selected for this opportunity by Jasemet; the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

SHOP SMALL: JASEMET

It is officially the holiday shopping season and I cannot think of a better way to spread the holiday cheer than kicking off this year's Shop Small series for Christmas! Leading up to the holiday season, I will be sharing a few of my favorite shops right now. I have always had a heart for great entrepreneurship so small businesses hold a special plane in my heart. I always love the uniqueness of the gifts that I can find and the soul of the owners' stories.

Today, I want to introduce you to Jasemet. I have been obsessed with anything and everything buffalo plaid lately. If I could my whole holiday decor would be replaced this year with something buffalo plaid, it would be. Our whole home would be one giant buffalo plaid print so when I saw that Jasemet made a buffalo plaid nursing cover, I just knew I had to have it.

Jasemet makes a unique nursing cover, 5-in-1. She originally created them for herself but has now expanded to nursing scarfs and nursing ponchos as well. Her prints are so adorable and the fabrics are super soft. Also, you can use the coupon code bahorichabode so you can get 20% anything in her shop. Nursing covers are a great holiday item for your favorite friend who is nursing. I know I have about five girlfriends or more that are nursing along side of me! The coupon code is good until December 31st, so I am even trying to preplan in my head who is currently pregnant for baby showers this spring!

Here is a little bit more about Jasemet in interview style with owner:

How did you get your shop started?
My youngest son was the inspiration for my shop. When he was born, I quickly realized that I needed some type of nursing cover so I could breastfeed him with the privacy that I desired. The nursing covers that were in the market just wasn't what I was looking for so I decided to try out my brand new sewing machine (that my husband gifted to me about a year earlier) and create an extra wide infinity scarf. My nursing scarves went everywhere with me; it was my "golden item" while breastfeeding my son. The scarves truly gave me confidence that I needed to nurse my son in public. I wanted to give other moms that same feelings that my nursing scarves gave me so I decided to open up an Etsy shop. I decided to expand the types of nursing covers so now moms have the options between a nursing scarf, nursing poncho or Jasemet cover.

What is the hardest part of owning a shop?
The hardest part is knowing that everything depends on you. I am a one-woman shop so I'm in charge of cutting the fabric, sewing, packing, shipping, photos, social media, everything and anything you can image -- I am in charge of.

What is the best part of owning a shop?
Flexibility! This is the best part. My oldest has autism and my youngest stays with me at home so having a shop gives me the flexibility to take my son to school, therapies and everything in between.

How did you get your shop name?
When I first open my shop, I named it "Kismet Love Collection" but as time passed and my company grew I knew it was time for a rebrand, so renamed it Jasemet. It's a combination of Kismet and the name of my future daughter (fingers crosses that I am blessed with daughter one day ?!)

What is one way that you keep organized?
My planner is my everything. It's like having another brain. I'm a pro at writing down a to-do list (hehe). I jot down everything in there.

How do you balance family life and work life?
This is a question that I have been trying to find the answer to. I realized that there is no perfect balance. My first priority is my family so I have to make sure that they are taken care of then I fill in the rest of the day with work.

Be sure to check out Jasemet and order your friends (or yourself) an amazing nursing cover! Also, check her out on her social media -- Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest!
