Graham Cracker Crust Apple Pie

The autumn months are always filled with apples upon apples in my house. I do not know if it is because they are running a dollar pound for weeks or if it is just the season for it; however, recently I have gotten so many piled on my countertops that this past weekend I had to do something with them. I had a premade graham cracker pie crust in the pantry and googled away. This recipe came from the Keebler website http://www.keebler.com/recipe-baked-dutch-apple-pie-178.aspx and to make it my own, I added some alterations. I hope you enjoy!

My shopping list for this recipe includes:
1 Keebler Ready Crust Graham Pie Crust
1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
6 medium-sized apples, peeled and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons flour
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Crumble Topping
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter, soft or melted

Directions

1. Brush bottom and sides of crust with egg yolk. Bake at 375°F for 5-7 minutes.

2. Sprinkle apples with lemon juice and hand mix to ensure all apples have been coated with a bit of lemon juice.

3. In large bowl stir together 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg. Add apples. Gently toss until coated. Pour into crust.

4. In small bowl combine 3/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar. Cut in margarine or butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.

5. Bake at 375°F about 50 minutes or until topping is golden and filling is bubbly. Serve warm or at room temperature.
